Building on the foundation of the PAE-1, the AXiom Power Amp Emulator PAE-2 was crafted through a thorough analysis of the electrical properties of power tubes, transformers, and tube amplifiers to recreate their behavior in a fully analog stompbox. It's essential to note that the PAE-2 is not an amplifier (it outputs a signal level comparable to a strong overdrive or clean boost pedal). It is also not an "overdrive" pedal (and isn't designed or voiced as one). Unlike digital modelers that exaggerate the sound of various tubes, this pedal authentically emulates the true characteristics of a tube amplifier, making anything connected to it feel as though it’s running through a tube power amp. Connect your overdrive pedals or preamp to the PAE-2, then plug the PAE-2 into your solid-state amplifier, and just like that: your sterile, lifeless amp gains the compression, headroom, touch sensitivity, crunch, and sag typical of a tube head. Alternatively, if you already own a tube amplifier, the PAE-2 can provide that cranked tube response at lower volumes or enhance the compressive and reactive qualities of a rigid, high-powered head.
