The Pharaoh features a dual tone control system that minimizes volume loss while maintaining a natural quality, allowing your guitar and amp to retain their unique voices without drastic alterations. Starting with a hi/lo input switch reminiscent of your favorite tube amp, the lo setting provides more headroom and less clipping, while the hi option offers reduced headroom with increased clipping. It includes a standard fuzz knob, as well as a comprehensive tone control that features a high-end compensation knob to restore any treble lost when boosting the lows. The diode selector switch opens up various clipping modes: silicon diodes create a raspy distortion, while bypassing the diodes yields increased volume and headroom with less clipping, and asymmetrical Germanium diodes produce a warm, vintage sound. With two switches, the Pharaoh transitions smoothly from a clean, robust boost to a light overdrive that cleans up nicely with your guitar's volume knob, and can even reach a gritty, open fuzz. It utilizes signal capacitors that allow for the passage of all frequencies without cutting, ensuring a natural tone. This feature is especially beneficial for bass players, offering powerful fuzz without sacrificing low-end clarity or introducing muddy tones.
