The Locust Star pays tribute to the iconic LM308 Rat distortion, incorporating a variety of enhancements that make it an exceptionally adaptable dirt pedal. It is produced in small batches, ensuring limited availability. In a distortion pedal, the tone control can significantly alter its overall sound. While a basic passive filter offers only a single dimension of tonal range, the Locust Star features an active shelving EQ, allowing for a much broader array of tonal options. The Bass control delivers ample low end suitable for bassists, eliminating the need for a clean blend. The Treble control spans from piercing and bright to deep and warm tones. For a mid-forward sound, lower both EQ knobs and increase the volume. For a mid-scooped effect, raise both EQ knobs and reduce the volume. The EQ is neutral with both knobs set at noon.
