Landscraper
Bleak District ElectricProduct Description
The Bleak District Electric Landscraper is a dual-channel, op-amp-based overdrive/distortion pedal that captures the essence of 1970s tone. Both channels are functionally the same, offering ample headroom for pristine clean sounds, which transform into a gritty crunch when you dial up the gain!
At its heart, the Landscraper features a circuit reminiscent of classic '70s distortion pedals (such as the Blue Clipper, DOD 250 Preamp, and MXR Dist+). It employs an op-amp for gain, followed by hard-clipping the signal with paired germanium 1n60p diodes.
An op-amp input buffer, similar to that found in the Klon, precedes the main circuit, ensuring a consistently clear signal is sent to the drive section.
Post-gain, there’s a JFET boost that significantly increases the pedal's volume, allowing you to explore all the fantastic lower gain settings without losing output. It's crafted to maintain transparency, aside from the harmonics introduced by the clipping.
The Landscraper effectively adds two additional channels to your amplifier without changing your inherent tone. If you've experimented with the usual soft-clipping drives and haven’t hit the mark, consider this refreshing alternative!
