The Horne is my interpretation of the iconic Zonk Machine fuzz pedal, echoing the raw essence of the Tone Bender MKI but taking a different route. While the MKI is known for its heavy low-end, the Horne offers a delightful midrange boost with a wah-like sharpness, making it ideal for precise riffing and situations where clarity and punch are prioritized over bass heaviness.
There are numerous ways to adjust these circuits, and the Horne series delivers a rich, warm tone that strikes a refined balance between smoothness and edge. You won't encounter aggressive sputtering or piercing highs here. The transistors are biased for a beautiful, quick gating effect, producing some 'sonic waste' artifacts during decay. This makes it particularly well-suited for guitars with humbuckers, but it will also provide a natural gating response with any pickup. Rather than transforming every guitar into a wall of fuzz, it preserves the instrument's unique character beautifully.
