Hizumitas (Cultfx Exclusive)

The EarthQuaker Devices Hizumitas is a distortion pedal inspired by Wata from the influential Japanese band Boris. This pedal is a reproduction of Wata's preferred distortion unit, the Elk BM Sustainar, a Japanese variant of the classic Triangle BMP. The designers at EQD studied various vintage BMPs to replicate the original's unique characteristics. Hizumitas delivers heavy saturation with a gritty edge and a robust low end, all while preserving clarity and dynamic response. It excels with power chords, open chords, and single-note leads, providing impressive note separation and sustain. The Sustain control allows for a wide range of saturation adjustments, while the Tone control can shift from aggressive mid-range sounds to deep lows or piercing highs, significantly altering the pedal's tonal character. The Volume control provides substantial output gain, ensuring that Hizumitas can easily cut through any mix.
