DRV - White
1981 InventionsProduct Description
Crafted with a distinctive steel casing and high-quality components, this pedal embodies a commitment to excellence. I chose to prioritize my favorite elements, acknowledging that there isn’t always a singular best choice in guitar gear. This includes Switchcraft 11 open frame jacks and a whisper-quiet soft touch switching mechanism utilizing an internal relay.
After nearly three years of collaboration and engineering with Jon Ashley from Bondi Effects, I believe this pedal stands out in both design and sound, particularly in its lower gain and boost settings. It offers a nuance reminiscent of vintage pedals rather than merely modifying a classic. The pedal features two circuits: a distortion and a preamp boost, operating at 18v through an internal voltage regulator. My intention was to carve out a unique sound for myself, and what I discovered is its versatility in delivering a wide array of tones. I take great pride in the lower gain section, which I consider the most innovative aspect of the pedal, but the gain section also provides a rich, sweet sound, especially for heavy and intricate chords. It delivers a midrange punch along with a warmth and thickness that evokes a ribbon microphone. The evolution of this pedal into something truly unique inspired the launch of 1981 Inventions, leading me to choose it as my first official release.
