DRV - Stranger Things
1981 InventionsProduct Description
Crafted within a uniquely designed steel housing using top-quality components, this pedal reflects my commitment to excellence. Understanding that there's no definitive answer in the realm of guitar gear when it comes to selecting the finest materials and designs, I chose my personal favorites. This includes premium Switchcraft 11 open frame jacks and an ultra-quiet soft touch switching mechanism utilizing an internal relay.
After nearly three years of dedicated work, in collaboration with Jon Ashley from Bondi Effects, I believe this pedal stands out in both design and sonic quality, particularly at lower gain and boost settings. Its subtlety evokes a vintage feel rather than a mere take on a classic. The pedal houses two circuits: one for distortion and another for preamp boost, operating at 18v thanks to an internal voltage regulator. My intent was to carve out a unique sound, and I discovered that it serves as an incredibly versatile tool for achieving a wide array of tones. I take great pride in the lower gain aspect, which I consider the most distinctive part of the pedal, while the gain section also delivers a wonderfully rich sound, especially with heavy and intricate chords. There's a midrange punch I adore, along with a warmth and thickness reminiscent of a ribbon microphone. The evolution of this pedal into something truly innovative sparked the creation of 1981 Inventions, making it the inaugural release in our lineup.
