Crafted with a distinctive steel enclosure and high-quality components, this pedal embodies a no-compromise approach. Understanding that selecting the finest components and designs can be subjective, I chose my preferred options, including Switchcraft 11 open frame jacks and a remarkably quiet soft touch switching system through an internal relay.
This project has been my focus for nearly three years, developed in collaboration with Jon Ashley from Bondi Effects. I believe this pedal's design and sound are truly one-of-a-kind, especially in the lower gain and boost settings. It possesses a subtlety that evokes the essence of vintage pedals rather than simply modifying a classic. It features two circuits: one for distortion and another for preamp boost, operating at 18v with an internal voltage regulator. My intention was to carve out a signature sound, and I discovered it serves as a versatile tool for achieving various tones. I'm particularly proud of the lower gain section, which I consider the most distinctive part of the pedal, while the gain section itself delivers a rich, sweet tone, excelling with heavy and complex chords. It boasts a midrange punch and a warmth reminiscent of a ribbon mic. The evolution of this pedal into something fresh and innovative ultimately inspired the launch of 1981 Inventions, making it the first official release.
