This pedal features a distinctive steel casing crafted with high-quality components. I aimed to utilize only the finest materials without cutting corners. Understandably, in the realm of guitar equipment, there isn't a definitive choice for the best components and designs, so I selected my personal favorites. This includes Switchcraft 11 open frame jacks and a whisper-quiet soft touch switching system powered by an internal relay.
After nearly three years of collaboration with Jon Ashley from Bondi Effects, this project has come to life. The pedal stands out not only in design but also in sound, particularly in its lower gain and boost settings, which evoke a vintage feel rather than just being a modern take on a classic. It encompasses two circuits: one for distortion and another for preamp boost, both operating at 18v through an internal voltage regulator. My vision was to carve out a unique sonic signature, and I've discovered that it's an incredibly versatile tool for achieving various tones. I take particular pride in the lower gain side, which I believe is the standout feature, though the gain section itself offers a beautifully rich sound, especially with heavy and intricate chords. The midrange punch is something I adore, along with a warmth and thickness reminiscent of a ribbon microphone. As this pedal evolved into a truly unique creation, it inspired the launch of 1981 Inventions, making it the inaugural release.
