Compact Series Rangemaster
British Pedal CompanyProduct Description
The British Pedal Company Compact Series Rangemaster is a sleek, modern version of the legendary Dallas Rangemaster treble booster, which first hit the market in 1965. This pedal has graced the setups of numerous esteemed musicians, including Eric Clapton, Tony Iommi, Rory Gallagher, Brian May, Marc Bolan, and Ritchie Blackmore, among others. Originally intended to boost the guitar's signal strength to the amplifier and enhance high-end tones, the need for such a treble booster emerged in the mid-1960s due to British tube amplifiers' tendency to produce a somewhat dark and muddy sound when pushed hard, especially with humbucking pickups. While primarily recognized as a treble booster, the Rangemaster also served as an overdrive pedal, delivering a more distorted yet focused sound compatible with many classic British amplifiers.
