ALBIE is an ambient modulator designed with eight unique settings tailored to capture the jangly, shimmering, and modulated tones characteristic of New Wave and Post Punk music from the ‘70s and ‘80s.
This pedal features two knobs: “Effect” and “Blend.” The “Effect” knob lets you switch between eight distinct pedal chains or “stacks” of effects, with LEDs illuminating to indicate your selected effect. These chains incorporate various modulation types, reverbs, delays, and even some compression. The “Blend” knob allows you to seamlessly integrate the chosen effect with your guitar’s clean tone, making it an ideal choice for those who struggle with too many options.
The momentary footswitch clicks like a standard switch, but when pressed, it reveals a secondary setting for each effects chain. These additional settings, known as the “Neil Modes,” were crafted by Neil Graham of Dr. Scientist, who programmed the digital code for ALBIE. You can also use these modes with latching functionality, keeping them active even after you release the footswitch!
